Paul Ryan's presidential prospects may have dimmed this week, but his future on Capitol Hill has never looked brighter.
The budget compromise he struck with Sen. Patty Murray, which passed the House on a lopsided 332-94 vote Thursday, had conservative activists and outside groups howling. That might one day curb Republican enthusiasm for Paul Ryan the presidential candidate.
But inside the dome, overwhelming support for Paul Ryan the policymakereven from those voting against his proposalarmed him with a major legislative victory and a reputation as a bipartisan consensus-builder. That means bigger things may be on the horizon.
"Paul did astonishingly well. He was at a profound disadvantage in those negotiations, and I think he did amazingly well," said Rep. Trent Franks, an Arizona Republican who ultimately opposed the agreement.

How does someone in the majority have a “profound disadvantage” in the negotiations? Pathetic.

Gotta say this...based on how Mark Levin has viewed Paul Ryan, that he is basically a decent person, who isn't afraid of talking w/Mark and taking the shellacking that Mark gives him, I've always had the feeling that Paul Ryan is on the good side of the American people who value the Constitution, Freedom and Liberty. I've had the feeling for some time that Paul's strategy is to “pretend” to want to work with boner and his cohorts, to make it look as if he is one of the boner left of center aholes. I believe that Paul is working on getting his foot in the door of opportunity to become House Speaker, and perhaps not making conservatives happy in the process because of the concessions he's had to make. And when he gets his foot in that door, with boner's cooperation and approval, he will then show his true conservative colors, and will work to bring this country back to the Constitution, Freedom and Liberty. In short, I think he's working a stealth mission to get in a position of power and authority, as Speaker of the House, so he can help turn this country around and bring it back to US. This is my gut feeling..Paul Ryan is not a socialist/communist/marxist/revolutionary/muslim sympathizer. He's our best chance...our enemies are the socialists in OUR White House and the socialists and the old bulls in the Republican Party, good ole boys, under the leadership of Boehner. Paul could be our “Trojan horse” in this drive to take back this country. He has the approval & cooperation of boner, and that's half the battle..anyone running AGAINST the left AND boner for Speaker of the House has an uphill, almost impossible job of winning. This is my observation...think about this, and I would like to hear from other Freepers...let's start thinking like stealth operators ourselves.
