If it sounds like the viral story of a Pinal County man getting a lifetime ban from Walmart for price-matching is too good to be true, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office says that's because it is. ABC 15, which ran the story this week of a man named Joe Cantrell, who claimed he got a lifetime ban from the store for his frequent use of Walmart's policy of matching other stores' prices on items, is getting called out by PCSO. "Every responsible news station in Phoenix waited to get a copy of the investigative report from the Sheriff's Office, yet ABC15 news felt it was in the public's best interest to tell only the side of the story provided by Cantrell," reads a PCSO press release/smack-down. "After the story aired on ABC15 it quickly grew to a national story, furthering the inaccuracies and portraying Walmart as the bad guy in their story." His story, as you can see in the segment above, was that he was handcuffed by deputies and banned for life, just for price-matching. Here's what Cantrell left out of the story, according to PCSO: Cantrell was heard threatening employees....

Joe, you don’t price match on December 2nd with Black Friday only prices.
Always the Low-Lifers. Always.
Come on. The media propagandists have to spin a story to carry out their agenda. Can’t blame the TV station - they were just following orders.
I think he hopes of a reality show are dying off.
My apologies and thank you for the fix!
I think practically everyone posting on the original threads knew there was more to the story.
They did.
That’s the Walmart near where I used to live.
I wonder if he’s one of the bad seeds that moved to the area after the housing bubble burst. Cheap big houses, or people who are willing to rent to anybody as the house is going into foreclosure.
Cantrell, another union plant?
...That alone wasnt why he was banned from the store, either. He was banned for threatening the physical safety of Walmart employees. Never once did I say anything to the gentleman, he had told the TV reporters. According to the police report, the shopper did say a few things to the gentleman. Specifically, Im going to mess this mother f_ _ _ker up, referring to the cashier, threatening to wait in the parking lot to do [the cashier] in and to beat his ass.
The MSM never lets the truth get in the way of a good “HATE WALMART” story.
Joe left out quite a bit of material.
New way to price match. Threaten to beat up the employee if they won’t match it.
Same thing happened in Maricopa. Vagrants living in nice, abandoned houses.
Boy, oh boy - if I were a lawyer, I would be doing some ambulance chasing about now. Walmart has the deep pockets to afford a big lawyers fee, and do they ever have a case! They should sue ABC for its very socks, showing a pattern of gratuitously smearing Walmart. The next move comes when the rest of the media piles on Walmart - and Walmart responds by suing the Associated Press and its membership, alleging monopolistic behavior.
The AP was held by SCOTUS to be in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act back in 1945. But of course the AP was too big to fail back then. The mission of the AP - the conservation of expensive bandwidth in the nationwide transmission of news - was a really big deal.
NOW, however, as the Internet - and free long-distance calling - illustrate, communication bandwidth has become dirt cheap. Conservation of nationwide communication bandwidth is no justification for monopolistic behavior.
The AP, by virtue of the fact that it is a monopoly, is too big not to fail.
They misjudged. Thought they could get ahead of the “story”. Should be egg on their face.
So glad I did a search.
The guy appears to be a nut.
Here is a link to a local paper.

the guy was taking a lesson in the “victim media”. hoping the fairy tale got out first before the facts. i’ll bet he not embarrassed to show his face or be “the face” of the anti-Walmart crowd. what a goofball.
You are kind to say “goofball”, I had other words for him. ;-)
