Okay, why do I feel like this was all put into place, especially with the news going on and on about how “close he was to our president” (no concern for the other dignitaries he was near, I guess); which may result in even MORE heightened security to protect dear leader.

Regardless of what people think about Obama, he's still the President of the United States and the fact that he was allowed to share the stage with a schizophrenic criminal belays a total dereliction of any security protocols whatsoever.
More security? It's quite apparent that there was absolutely no security at Mandelapalooza. People need to get fired over this.
I thought the same when this first came out. But, of course, it's all about The Won. The selfies also was the perfect example of why the WH has cracked down on unapproved pics of Der Leader. Of course this will give them an excuse to bring on more security and less transparency just like every other dictator throughout history. It's here, folks, and it's long past time to push the reset button.
