That is not the issue. Many people volunteered enough to buy out the entire park.It is not a property dispute but suppression of Christian symbols by the Federal government.
Leave that cross alone for now.
The way things look today, when sharia law will be established in the future, the cross will be removed anyway.

This has been going on since the 1980s. A Mayor of San Diego once tried to facilitate selling the land to a private buyer but the lawsuit that prompted the sale idea was unsuccessful do the idea of a land sale was abandoned once the threat was gone.
