Me too. My insurer, Aetna, pulled out of CA and I’m cancelled as of January 1. That policy was okay, too. I’m self-employed. Had it for quite a while. It was affordable. Not cadillac by any means, but it served my purposes. Now I have no idea what I’m gonna have. Bites. Bites hard. Rats are vermin.

I lost mine two years ago. I don’t have the money to pay for medical treatment myself. The only reason I’m alive is that a kind doctor friend writes me the prescriptions I ask for. Unfortunately I can’t get the labwork I should have. It infuriates me when people say, “Oh, now that Obamacare has kicked in, I’ll bet you can get insurance. You must be so relieved.” Right. Even with the subsidy, the cost of the premium is about 25% of my pretax income. The deductible is in five figures, which means I’d be paying $550 a month for a policy that would cover 80% of medical costs AFTER a deductible I could never dream of affording. It’s madness. There are millions in the same boat. I’m convinced they want people like us dead. I’m going to stay alive and survive the collapse just to spite them.
