McConnell Hosts Fundraiser for North Carolina’s Charlie Crist at Home of Fannie Mae Lobbyist

Senator Mitch McConnell has been awfully quiet lately. After making it clear in October that he would never again fight Obamacare in the budget or a debt ceiling increase, he has fallen off the face of the earth. Harry Reid pulled the nuclear option in the Senate, yet McConnell has not threatened to hold up the deals on the farm bill or new budget conference. In fact, he hasn’t commented on them at all. He hasn’t even commented on Obama’s Iran capitulation, an issue in which he presumably shares our views.

So what is Mitch McConnell doing as the most powerful Republican in Washington?

He’s fundraising for Thom Tillis, the Charlie Crist of North Carolina, at the house of a Fannie Mae lobbyist.

“A Washington, D.C., fundraiser scheduled for this week for North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis, a Republican candidate for Senate, will feature a few big GOP names, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., are also slated to attend, according to an updated invitation sent out Monday and obtained by the Washington Examiner.

Thursday’s breakfast event will be at the home of Geoffrey Gray, a lobbyist who has represented Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, among additional interests in banking, financial and other sectors. The event is $500 to $1,000 per head and up to $2,500 for political action committees.

McConnell’s political action committee has donated to Tillis’ campaign, but the appearance at the fundraiser of the Senate’s top Republican is an important, visible stamp of approval for Tillis’ candidacy. McConnell’s colleague, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., endorsed another Republican in the North Carolina Senate primary, physician Greg Brannon. Still, Tillis, the favored candidate of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, holds a considerable fundraising advantage.”

With that one statement, you've shown what a JackAss you are.

Conservatives are leery of Liz Cheney's position on Gay Marriage and really don't want a so-called conservative that gets elected and then "Evolves" on the social issues.

In the past, Liz Cheney's comments on this issue has left a lot of conservatives believing she is quite soft on this social issue.

I love how they 'out' their true selves by such blatant elitist liberal big government actions.

Matt Bevin ..... Lee Bright .... Liz Cheney ..... take note - this is a campaign ad in waiting!

So just let Obama Care and socialism over run us, and then we’ll no longer worry about gay marriage……..because we won’t have time in the new socialist amerika.

We heard the same crap concerning Romney.

I'm not a half-hearted conservative, and I refuse to quit fighting for what is right, no matter what the issue.

I can chew bubble-gum and walk at the same time.

Furthermore, as a Christian, I can not compartmentalize my Christianity and please my Savior.

I guess I'll leave that up to you people who are apparently smarter than me.

“Because they’re waiting for Jesus to run from Wyoming……and they’re sure He will!!!!”

Yes, and unlike him, I am “going to turn the other cheek,” rather that post what I think of him. I will say that we are not electing a religious leader, but someone who will lead us out of the mess we are in. And while I personally abhor abortion, and think it’s murder, re-electing a do-nothing because he “claims” to be pro-life doesn’t get it with me. Ditto for the Gay issue. The good news here is that for the first time in literally decades, some of these “aging a$$holes” that have taken up long-term residence in the Congress, are going to have to run on their records. As far as I am concerned, all of them who are over 75, need to go!

Liz Cheney is soft on social issues. And, as a newbie here, I found out the guy, whom you called a JackAss truly is. And now, I also find out, he’s not as Conservative as he tried to pass himself off to be. I just ignore him.

Liz Cheney is soft on social issues.

Mike Enzi is chummy with McConnell, Graham, North Carolina's Charlie Crist and a lobbyist for big government Fannie & Freddie.

Who do you vote for?

Maybe Wyoming residents don’t want to get a repeat of Elizabeth Dole. Enzi’s not perfect, but Cheney could have picked a better target in her home state of Virginia.

That is a failed analogy….Liddy Dole never ever showed the ability to articulate conservatism strongly. Cheney has.

As for choosing Va, that might have merit….but a lot more expensive to run in Va.

Maybe because she isn't running. Liz Cheney, on the other hand, is. :)

No analogy lines up at every level. If her name was Jones instead of Cheney, she'd get no traction, regardless of her writings or articulation. If she can't raise money for a Virginia Senate race with her name recognition, and her dad's political connections, maybe she should try for something a little less ambitious than U.S. Senator. Maybe a rep's seat would be more suitable. Going for Senate out of the gate didn't serve Linda McMahon, Meg Whitman or Carly Fiorina well, either.

While Wyoming is not exatly Alabama or even Iowa in terms of social conservatism, it ain't north eastern Virginia either. Miss Cheney would do better to upgrade the east instead of downgrading the west.
