Exactly why democracy has so many advocates in the Third World and on the Left. They don't actually want it - they want first dibs on control of the authoritarian system that will inevitably supplant it.

Not only will people use it to eventually vote for their own suicide, "Democracy" is a handy tool for skimming off the fortunes of the productive before slaughter, like three wolves and a lamb voting for what to have for lunch.
