Great, so you do agree then that there are Russians living in Ukraine, and no one is Ukrainian just because they live in the Ukraine? That was my point.
Khrushchev lived in Ukraine for a number of years but I don’t think the Ukrainians would want to claim him as one of their own. As for ethnic Russians who have lived all their lives in Ukraine, that is a trickier question and I don’t have an answer. Maybe it would depend on whether they feel a genuine loyalty to Ukraine or whether they are just hoping for the day when the Russian Empire is reassembled.
