There's a story (possibly apocryphal) about how the Soviets wanted to erect a statue of Lenin in Lithuania. It was one of those, "come follow me and go in the direction I'm pointing" types of socialist-realism statues.
So the Lithuanian workers erected it so that it was pointing at the city prison.
