It absolutely disgusts me the way the elite have substituted the word “holiday’ for Christmas. The other day my grandson was watching Disney and “holiday’ was used nine times in a thirty second ad. These cretins have turned Christmas into a profanity.
Because some atheists are self-important jerks. Just as some Christians are, and some Buddhists, some Jews, etc.
I believe, howeverand I could be wrongthat the reason some rage against the machine is that they hate God and love their sin
An atheist doesn't believe in God by definition. Granted, there might be a few who call themselves atheists who actually believe in God, but keep in mind that the vast majority of atheists aren't activists trying to persuade people to give up their religion.
Heck, I'm an atheist and I celebrate Christmas. Speaking of which...
Christmas, if you really get down to the brass tacks of it, isnt about reindeer, elves, iPhones or Lindsay Lohan punching a gypsy, but about mankinds sin problem and what God did to remedy it by sending His Son.
Increasingly, that is what Christmas is about (er, aside from Lohan's gypsy slur). Christmas is a far more commercial holiday then it was few generations ago. That's not to say that millions don't still celebrate it as a religious holiday, of course, but for millions more (myself included) it really is all about Santa, lights on trees, a special dinner with the family, and the giving and receiving of presents.
not for nuthin....but
back in the 1950s when the word Christmas was used much more often....there was still a plethora of Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings both at stores and in the media.
It’s good to get back to what Christmas really means.
And the original Santa Claus WAS NOT a jolly fat guy who gave little mention of Jesus. You’d find him punching out blasphemers at Nicea instead of feeding reindeer at the North Pole. The man was serious about his faith.
Happy holiday, happy holiday
While the merry bells keep ringing
May your every wish come true
Happy holiday, happy holiday
May the calendar keep bringing
Happy holidays to you
---Bing Crosby, from the film "Holiday Inn" (1942)
I too am a non believer(not sure believer????) of Christian(RC) descent. I do not call myself an atheist as I do not believe I can know with any more certainty than those of faith can know that, as a demonstrable fact.
I too celebrate Christmas. those who do not believe I should do that....can sue me.

Why Atheists Whiz on The Most Wonderful Time of the Year?
Because they are pissy.
Keep in mind there's more than one variety of athiesm. "Weak" atheism is simply a lack of faith in a deity: "I have no belief in a God or gods, but I do not affirm that it or they do not exist".
Whereas "strong" atheism is a positive affirmation: "I assert that there is not a God or gods".
I subscribe to the former, not the latter. Actually, ignosticism might describe my thoughts on the matter more accurately:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignosticism
Ignosticism is the view that a coherent definition of a given religious term or theological concept must be presented before the question of the existence or nature of said term can be meaningfully discussed. Furthermore, if that definition is unfalsifiable, the ignostic takes the theological noncognitivist position that the question of the existence or nature referred to by the term, for the given definition, is meaningless.
“Holiday” is an alternate pronunciation of the phrase “Holy Day.”
Christmas most certainly is a holy day.
I read something interesting yesterday on the origin of ‘Kris Kringle’. Apparently during the Reformation, St. Nicholas was popular among German and Dutch artisans, but since Luther wanted to sideline the saints, he had these depictions replaced with the Christ Child, or ‘ChristKindl’ instead. Over time, others mispronounced this as Kris Kringle and it ironically became synonymous with Santa.
They can't stand to see happiness and companionship based on love.
Take it from me, a sensitive guy named appropriately, uh...Sauron. I never got any love serving Morgoth.
Mine’s a tale that can’t be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T’was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah.
IMO, some time in their pathetic godless life, they feel the Lord abandoned them.
The only difference between an Atheist and a Satanist is that the latter knows who he’s working for.
