It's ugly now, but it won't get violent. NYers are cowardly government worshipping sheep. They will baa a little and the few that have guns (other than the criminals of course) will turn them in to the NYPD. Then later they'll get into the rail cars - trusting government to look after them.

For the most part, you are right. NY could turn into Berlin, 1936 very easily. And the NYers would cheer it.
