I have a lovely flat screen TV 42” HD. The only time I use it is when a classic movie (or documentary)arrives from Netflix.

Same here. I sometimes tune in Fox for news, Fair and Balanced you know.

You should have your computer hooked into that thing. I have mine plugged into the 46" LCD TV, and with my wireless keyboard (with built-in trackball) I can websurf from across the room on the couch. Plus, if you use some of the online TV subscription services, like Hulu (I don't recommend this because you're still giving money to Hollywood), you can watch old shows on that same TV through your PC. Or you can watch stuff like YouTube.

Well mine is bigger than yours!! It hangs on the wall in my man cave and is turned on only to watch The FOX PANEL (20 minutes) and on Sundays to watch Football.
Occasionally I will watch an episode of PAWN STARS on History Channel but other than that the screen stays dark except to watch a movie. I have a HUGE collection of movies mostly from the 1940’s on through the mid 1970’s and this will constitute the major “on” time of the set.
If someone put a gun to my head and asked me when was the last time I watched network TV my life would be forfeit.

Similar here. Teevee is on TCM, baseball or footall; and it’s not unusual for TCM to take priority over football.
