I am hoping that 2016 will be the year of the woman. I am hoping beyond hope that former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton will run for and win the presidency. But often things happen that make me question that possibility for America. Today, we are a little more than two years away from that date, and sadly, women still struggle with negative stereotypes and sexism.
In this week alone, Martin Bashir handed in his resignation in at MSNBC after suggesting that Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, deserved to have someone defecate in her mouth. And also this week, Time Magazine's "Person of the Year" poll shows Miley Cyrus leading, a young woman who has recently become famous (again) for appearing half naked on national television and bending over as if she were being sodomized.
Have we really, as the Virginia Slims ad once suggested, "come a long way baby?"
I think not.
I am a liberal, a Democrat, a progressive; but I am also a woman. And as I have often said, I am a woman first.
I honestly don't know what disgusts me more: The fact that male broadcasters continue to act like misogynistic idiots or the fact that the American public is idiotic enough to feel that Miley Cyrus has "influenced" the world, the criteria for being chosen as Time Magazine's "Person of the Year."
As both a broadcaster and a woman, it bothers me that those on the left defend Bashir. It also bothers me that those on the right called for Bashir's termination, but remained silent when Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a slut...

I absolutely despise Leslie Marshall and always leave the room when she’s on Fox. She has no common sense — just a loud and incessant mouth.
She has managed to convince an appalling number of women that she is smarter than they are and qualified to be president just by riding around on her husbands coattails.
Well I honestly don't know what disgusts me more: female leftists who refer to themselves as women while categorizing workers in the same profession as dehumanized "males," or female leftists who wrap massive generalities in sexist hate speech while claiming to be victimized by sexist hate speech.
On the other hand, why count them as separate? After all, hypocritical, divisive, lying, civilization destroying hags will be hypocritical, divisive, lying, civilization destroying hags.

Ladies, listen please. The day may come when a very well qualified woman will become president of this country. But that time is not now and that Woman is not Hillary Clinton.
We must resist the urge to crown Clinton the perfect candidate. She is no more qualified or competent than Obama and her presidency will have the same outcome; bungled policies that set womens’ claims to competence back decades. If we are going to break new ground we had better do it very, very well to be successful. Hillary wants it badly, not for the betterment of women, but for her own glory. Where have we seen that before? We also need to get past the notion that we can do the office better because we are women. Hubris is as much our nemesis as it is a man’s. Voting for a woman because she is a woman is stupid.

Palin was a mother of 5, Governor of the largest state in the Union, put men in Jail of her own party (have you Leslie?), the first female nominee for the 2nd highest job there is in the world and beautiful a long side all the foregoing. To compare her to Fluke is like comparing a Mustang Ranch whore to Mother Teresa!
What did lefty women do, including Leslie, they attacked Palin like a pack of Pit Bull Dogs some of which were “morally equivalent” to Bashir’s statement wanting someone to s___ in Palin’s mouth.
