MSNBC's Alter Suggests Releasing Criminals from U.S. Prisons to Honor Mandela
Newbusters ^

On Thursday's PoliticsNation, MSNBC political an analyst Jonathan Alter played the liberal caricature by actually suggesting that, in light of former South African President Nelson Mandela's passing, Americans should practice "forgiveness" toward "hundreds of thousands of people" who are serving life prison sentences. Speaking to host Al Sharpton, Alter suggested:

So my question tonight, Rev, is can we import that spirit of forgiveness and apply it to the hundreds of thousands of people incarcerated who, for the rest of their lives, you know, will be stigmatized by this. Could we figure out a way to forgive them, maybe expunge some of those records? Release some prisoners who, with three strikes and you're out, you have, you have people who have been there for so many years.

Habitual criminals and violent criminals can receive life sentences without parole, imho. Build more prisons if necessary.

Maybe they should blow up some whities in every city to honor Mandela?

Obama could do this, but he’s actually pardoned fewer people that previous presidents. Pretty sure he’s too lazy to do that either. (Yeah I know, that’s racist.)

“MSNBC’s Alter Suggests Releasing Criminals from U.S. Prisons to Honor Mandela”

I guess MSNBC does occassionally generate an idea I must support. IACOVATX is ready to wave as many of these criminals as possible onto a boat to S Africa, ASAP. I’m all for it! If we move on this brilliant idea quickly, many might arrive in time for Mandela’s memorial service.
Please note, I have a “no returns” policy.

Mark 15

6 Now at the feast he was accustomed to releasing one prisoner to them, whomever they requested. 7 And there was one named Barabbas, who was chained with his fellow rebels; they had committed murder in the rebellion. 8 Then the multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do just as he had always done for them. 9 But Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” 10 For he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.

11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them. 12 Pilate answered and said to them again, “What then do you want me to do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?”

13 So they cried out again, “Crucify Him!”

14 Then Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has He done?”

But they cried out all the more, “Crucify Him!”

15 So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him, to be crucified.

Matthew 27

15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to releasing to the multitude one prisoner whom they wished. 16 And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. 17 Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?” 18 For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy.

19 While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.”

20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. 21 The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?”

They said, “Barabbas!”

22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?”

They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”

23 Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?”

But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”

24 When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.”

25 And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”

26 Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

Step up the KNOCK OUT game and start “necklacing” whites in honor of Nelson and Winnie Mandela. I hate to say it, I think it could happen in this country.

I thought “necklacing” was a Winnie Mandela legacy, not a Nelson Madela legacy. Winnie was evil incarnate.

Yes, it was Winnie. How much Nelson knew about it at the time is a matter of debate. Some say it had his tacit, if not outright, approval. Others say he was pretty much kept in the dark while he was in prison.

What isn't debatable is that Winnie visited him regularly during the prison years and used him as an icon of ANC resistance at the time. I find it hard to believe that they did not communicate about such tactics, but I suppose it is possible.

Their marriage lasted until some years after he was released from prison. Many like to believe the end of the marriage marked the end of such brutal tactics by the ANC. Time will tell.
