Do you know for certain that those on watch patrol cannot carry arms ? That depends on state staute. In Chicago which has such areas they can’t by policy but this is Florida. Even then that applies to public access areas not to a gated community where this took place.

Apparently he did not branish a weapon or engage Martin in any way. But as an assigned member of the security team after observing suspicious activity had the responsibility just as any off duty police officer should and do. Did observe and report that activity and went on his way and was returing to his vehicle when attacked..

In fact in the case of a police officer, they can do often interceed and arrest their suspect. In every argument the left brings up your positions to support their accusations defending Obama from any involvement in this issue.

Yes, I know it, I'm in it. But I do know that there are variations, one being the group 10-12 years ago in west Dallas who were patrolling an area where there were numerous drug dealers and other miscreants around. The patrollers were area fathers who were responding to ineffectual policing (ineffectual at getting rid of the dealers) by forming a citizen patrol group who worked in a group of five-six men on foot carrying shotguns. Both "on foot" and "shotguns" are out in your typical program. But local conditions were such that they felt both were necessary.
