Some people getting switched to new expensive health insurance plans under Obamacare might not even be aware of it until its too late.
If you have an insurance plan that isnt compatible with the Affordable Care Act, your insurance company might be automatically rolling you into the plan most similar to your own.
For one Washington state resident interviewed by The Daily Caller, his new Bronze plan is 80 percent more expensive for him and his wife. His wife is paying $220 more and hes paying $150 more with higher deductibles.
Be sure to check all the mail youre getting from your insurance company. They have to notify you 90 days in advance if theyre going to automatically switch you, according to federal law.
At least one insurance company carrying out this policy said that it has few options available to prevent lapses in coverage for their customers under Obamacare.
The letters went out in September. People had the three [SIC] options: to do nothing and get rolled over Jan. 1, and the other option was to either talk to Regence and get another plan, Rachelle Cunningham, strategic communications manager for RegenceBlueShield in Washington state told TheDC.
We asked them to let us know by Nov. 6 in the letter. Even if theyre rolled over effective Jan. 1, they still have until the 31st to cancel.
Its a confusing thing for people. Most of the plans didnt contain all the provisions that were under the law. We had no choice, Cunningham said. Were trying to make it clear for them.
That’s sneakier than getting canceled outright.
Let me guess: Tea Party members, GOP contributors, gun owners, veterans, CCW permit holders, Evangelicals, conservative bloggers and small business owners?
Let the law suits begin.
Pelosi knew.
What difference does it make ?
This way you get no lapse in your policy and the price goes up.
When they cancel you there is a lapse—a time when you have no insurance , and your price goes up.
This way keeps you out of the Obamacare exchange—that’s a good thing.
Sure: Either way you get screwed, this way they use a lubricant.
Wife’s plan was cancelled by Florida Blue but at least they had the courtesy to call and tell us an option was available. Premium went up by 66%, deductible was raised to $6,250, and some coverage for testing was either omitted or the co-pay significantly increased. But it’s nice to know she has maternity coverage now that she’s well beyond her child bearing age. My increase in Social Security won’t come close to covering the health insurance increase, hence my disposable income will decrease. I’m sure our politicians allowed for the “trickle down” effect of Americans having less to spend and how it will affect the economy. Why, all we need to do is raise the minimum wage and put out more government subsidies. Yeah, like that will work.....
I’m with Blue Cross Blue Shield in Illinois and I think that’s what happened to me.
Got a letter stating that due to the ACA provisions my insurance premiums would be going up $170.00
Botox is a covered procedure...
“But its nice to know she has maternity coverage now that shes well beyond her child bearing age.”
That’s the thing - it’s not maternity coverage for her. She’s financing maternity coverage for all the hood rats, trailer trash and illegals. From each according to their means, comrade. :)
I just got a cancellation letter - no offer of substitution. Maybe some states allow insurers to propose a substitution, but others do not. It’s not consistent from state to state.
No, no, no, Dear Citizen! That is not how a good citizen of the Regime looks at the Affordable Care Act. Imagine how much your insurance would have gone up without ACA (pronounced "Akk!", like one is gagging).
It's all about shared sacrifice; and you are being sacrificed so others can now get subsidized policies. The politicians can do the math and buying 3 votes while losing 1 works in their favor. The issuance company makes out with the forced purchase of higher priced policies and now government subsidized policies. You, well... two out of three ain't bad.
I learned by accident yesterday my State Farm rep sells health insurance. I’m getting switched in Jan against my will, and going with State Farm if Anthem sucks as much as I hear it does. If my company will let me switch.
I am on LifeWise in Washington state. LifeWise sent me a letter telling me that unless they hear from me they will change me to a Bronze plan
I currently pay 598.00 per month. My new payment would be 550.00 on the Bronze with higher deductibles. They will change me on January 1 unless I say differently. They say I can alter this plan up until my normal renew date which is March 1.
I have looked around on the Washington state site, which is one of the ones that works. Regence, Blueshield and Group Health would all be the same as what Lifewise quotes. I have looked at other Lifewise plans costing more with lower deductibles.
I am going to just let Lifewise throw me onto the Bronze. My max doctor visits in a year for the last 15 years have been three, two preventive ones and maybe a test or a hiking injury visit.
I am going to try not to touch putting any info on the site so that I will not be counted as a successful enrollee and also will not more publicly disclose my information.
