I’m glad to hear this, but if there is not a visible protest in this country by docs and nurses very soon, the 2014 election will not be effected sufficiently.
The protest occurs everytime a nurse or doctor talks to anyone, anywhere, about what is happening to the business of medicine AND the results that it is going to have of the delivery of services to patients. I think it a very effective method of protest/education.
Then, look at the practicalities of a mass protest. Do you really want 2-5 million of the Nation's medical professionals on the D.C. Mall or say 250K of a State's medical pool storming a State Capitol? Chaos is what would result - millions of patients would not be serviced during the protest and WHOM would the media and the Administration blame? Why, those evil fatcat medical providers, of course!
And we medical professionals often work ridiculous hours and days. When would we have time to organize, much less attend, a mass protest?
No, FRiend, we are in a position to be MUCH more effective on an individual basis.
