Go ahead and live in denial.
I want to win elections. And that means coming to grips with the fact that anyone using certain words is and will be considered racist. And once you are labeled that you are not going to win many elections.
Anyone who thinks they can use words like ‘illegal’ instead of ‘undocumented’ or refer to blacks as being in the lower part of the bell curve is irrelevant in politics today and to come. You can’t use the ‘N’ word unless you are black, that’s just the way it is and the way it’s going to be for a long long while. Likewise, accusing blacks of being ‘on the democratic plantation’ and the like are simply going to backfire.
I don’t give a crap if someone scoffs at ‘political correctness’; this ain’t the world the founding fathers, or even Reagan knew. The choices are adapt or die. As a white male there are things I cannot do or say that a black and/or a female can. Just like 100 years ago there were things I could say and do that they couldn’t. I can whine about it or I can try to figure out how to get the message across that free markets and limited government result in the greatest good for the greatest number.
The real question is: who is living in denial...you or me? I don’t question whether you are a conservative or not. I just question whether you understand that pandering to minorities will not win them over. Nobody is calling members of certain ethnic groups derogatory words...unless, of course like you, they think the term “illegal” is calling someone a dirty name. If I enter Mexico illegally, then I am an illegal. The Mexicans would have a right to call me that. Let me reiterate...anybody who is in this country illegally is an illegal.
