Obamacare website ‘fixed,’ but label of failure sticks; more bumps expected, lawmakers are wary

Skeptical Republicans and hopeful Democrats alike brushed aside the glowing report card on repairs to HealthCare.gov issued by the Obama administration Sunday, with lawmakers on both sides acknowledging the presidents team has tougher work ahead.
The Department of Health and Human Services said Sunday that it met the Dec. 1 deadline imposed by President Obama to fix major glitches plaguing HealthCare.gov. since the websites nationwide debut two months ago. ... But lawmakers even Democrats were wary.
Clearly, the rollout has been a disaster, and its still a work in progress, former Sen. Evan Bayh, Indiana Democrat, said on Fox News Sunday.
[Snip]
There are going to be more dislocations coming, said Mr. Bayh, who voted for the Affordable Care Act. Co-pays may go up, your doctor bill may go up, people may have their coverage dropped and have to go on the exchanges. Thats going to be disconcerting, so short term: troubling. It may be really problematic for the 2014 midterm elections.

I heard about someone who tried to buy insurance through the website, and it demanded a scanned copy of his birth certificate.
Is this for real, or was he on a scam website?

The broken website has been a blessing, the best thing about Obamacare. Because of it, people have had an excuse for not being forced to buy a service they don’t want, don’t need, and can’t afford. The best thing that could possibly happen to Obamacare would be to crash the website in some way that it can never work again.

At what point did the people say , screw prohibition, this just doesnt work.... and repealed it?
To: pallis
Prohibitively expensive, inaccessible, and of poor quality. The Obamacare website perfectly represents what Obamacare is. It is a symptom of Obamacare, not the disease itself. But it's all just part of the plan to herd all Americans into a Socialist single-payer nightmare so that the Muzzie-Marxist poofter occupying the White House and his fellow travelers can control every aspect of our lives, including whether we can live and when we must die.
When at least two, 100% independent security organizations not theatened by, or back-door owned by, the marxists in power officially declare the website is secure then I’ll believe 1% of the “fixed” statement.

I wonder what all of this overtime work is costing us, and why aren’t they billing the original company who wrote it for the overtime.

Moron. The democrats deserve an ass-kicking at the polls. Not that I believe enough OTHER morons will wake up and do it to them, but hope springs eternal and all that.

Is this for real, or was he on a scam website? False dichotomy. The real site is a scam site.

Is this for real
Yes...it is for real. The Obamacare website is having difficult proving you actually are who you say you are...even if you provide the mountain of personal information they are asking for. In an attempt to protect themselves for identity theft, they are asking for a scanned copy of of birth certificate, driver's license, passport, or other HIGHLY personal document so you can prove you are who you are claiming to be.
or was he on a scam website?
If the website he was on actually WORKED, then chances are he was on a scam website. If the website was generally broken and full of errors, he was probably on the legit obamacare site.
To: Zakeet
What we need is a comprehensive list of what’s still broken or not implemented in the “fixed” website. Here’s what I have:
No 824s or reconciliation capability with private insurers.
No guaranteed prices prior to enrolling, only guesstimates
No payment capability.
Those three alone representva massive failure. But what else am I missing?
To: Zakeet
You cannot “FIX” the healthcare.gov website. The backbone of any e-commerce site is Security. They did not build the site with any security, therefore it is not something that can be fixed.
It should be destroyed for the sake of customer security.
