a lot of parents live vicariously through their children pushing them to do things they never did or were never good at and the children don't want to do...now some parents will forbid their children from doing the things they want to do

Back when I was in school, I had zero interest in sports of any kind. As I recall, PE class was mandatory through 7th grade. After that, I never participated in sports in any way, and had the full support of my parents in that choice (to which I am grateful to this day), which let me concentrate on academics.
To this day, I get very puzzled looks from co-workers and customers when they ask what I thought of the latest Bronco game, and I reply that I have no opinion since I don't watch sports.

Dad never pressured me about football but he wanted me in a team sport. So I joined the rifle team & being an infantry soldier he kind of liked that and said, “Son,

So when my draft number came up (8) for Vietnam, I volunteered & became a helicopter pilot & carried many infantry soldiers in & out of combat. But that’s another story.
