The reason Obamacare will fail is it ignores the science of actuaries. They think that the redistribution nature of Obamacare will do what the actuary science does. There is nothing that Obamacare can do that compares to the free market use of scientific calculations based upon trends, demographics, social science and statistics that are the backbone of the insurance industry. It is because of the ingenuity of the free market that gives its customers choice to the type of coverage they need. It is that type of choice that attracts the healthy to the health care market place.
The Democrats have ignored economic principle when the insurance pool is weighted towards the most sick and penalizes the healthy by increasing their premiums — so much so that some will choose to pay the small penalty rather than participate. This design ignores the fundamentals of actuarial realities where the larger numbers of healthy support the costs of the sick.
