Not so sure. If it’s similar to Florida’s law, Mr. Hendrix had every right to be outside in his front yard, and would have the right to defend himself there, using deadly force if necessary. Would have to show he had reason to fear death or severe bodily harm (whatever that means).

Judgement: Hendrix lacks it. Hendrix didn't go to the front lawn to water the daisies. He went there with a gun, fully prepared to use it. Granted, we do not have all the facts in this case. I believe, however, we can all agree that convincing a jury of the probity of gunning down an elderly man on the front lawn will be a major stretch. Thus, rule Nr. 1 of a gunfight: Don't be there.
