True. I doubt they would fare very well though.

RE :”
Turns out that they had, and that he just wanted more money and was willing to turf people out of their home to get it.” No, that building was NOT their property, it was his property. Yes, he wanted to rent it to those willing to pay more than they were. They are free to buy their own building and charge whatever they want.
There is a reason why we have these things called ‘prices’ in a capitalist system.
“Turns out that they had, and that he just wanted more money and was willing to turf people out of their home HIS PROPERTY to get it.”
Thats better.

RE :”
A fire would be very unfortunate but would get the owner out of this mess, if one of the tenants he is forced to support was to be careless.”
.....
Are you two suggesting that “someone” should set a fire to remove the tenants? I hope not! That is a crime. It is called arson, and in many jurisdictions it is punishable by death, and for good reason.” Of course not. That would be illegal and very unfortunate.
However accidents do happen especially when the tenants are a bunch of freeloading moochers who demand that others support them.
Like if your neighbors lazy son moved in with you and then refused to leave and fell asleep smoking.

Tenants have to have some measure of protection from the whims of landlords, seems like the law agrees with me...

RE :”

Great if you are not the owner/seller and is great only if you are one of the few who get them before they run out at the controlled price... Everyone else gets screwed.
What many apartment owners did in response to rent control is stop renting and sell the apartment as condos

Of course not. That would be illegal and very unfortunate.I'm very glad to hear that. Perhaps you might make an effort to be a bit clearer so that you posts would not be so easily misinterpreted.
