Not a good idea, although I'm positive Herring stole it, as he was behind by quite a bit when a few blue counties did a "readjustment" and found ~surprise!~ Herring was actually ahead by just enough. Convenient, no?

But just like one poorly phrased and oft-misquoted comment by Todd Akin cost the Republicans countless elections across the country, so to would the 'rats use a move like this to beat us over the head for the next 10 years. They'd love for him to declare a contest, because the left excels at taking minor/local/isolated comments and actions by one person and using it nationwide as a brutally effective campaign tool -- all due to their loyal lapdog media of course, but it gets the "correct" results for them whatever the case.

Wish I could agree, but no, Herring and MacAuliffe didn't steal it. Witnessed the transformation of Virginia first hand. It became awash in New York transplants in the last 10-15 years, and they brought their politics with them. Most, like our neighbors, were afraid of the new surroundings to venture more than 25 miles East or West of the I-95 corridor (beaten path). Always went "home" to New York for the Holidays and on family vacations. Our New York neighbors and their kids never visited Jamestown, Monticello, or Williamsburg. Never saw Lurray Caverns or Natural bridge, or Skyline Drive in the autumn. They would drive six hours every summer to a New York beach rather than two hours to a Virginia beach. Never had the slightest interest in Virginia history. Whenever their extended family came to Virginia for a visit, they always treated us like we had two heads or something. And, always whining about not finding a "good Italian restaurant" or "real bagel." Well, they finally just brought all of New York with them.
