President Obama on Monday will call on Congress to pass commonsense immigration reform, according to a White House official.
Obama will speak Monday morning in San Francisco, urging House Republicans to take up the issue as soon as possible.
Obama will highlight key principles that must be a part of any bipartisan comprehensive effort, the official said, including continuing to strengthen border security, creating an earned path to citizenship, holding employers accountable and bringing our immigration system into the 21st century.
The White House says immigration reform has strong, bipartisan support across the country.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Sunday said that immigration reform is going to happen.

“Common sense”, when used by a politician, has exactly the opposite meaning as when used by everyone else.
Time for Barry to import more low to no information “voters” for the 2014 “election”. The boy knows his ‘RATS are in deep trouble and they are going to need all of the low to no intelligence “voters” they can get. The dumber they are, the better.
So does “investment.”
Coward Pivens...over loading the system. It’s his plan to ruin us...God help us!
waitaminute you traitorous kenyan, we’re not finished with obamacare
God help us!
We’re busy enough now dealing with his other screw-ups.
Well. If they were immigrants, it would be one thing.
And if they had, or showed any indication of, any respect for our laws, it would be another thing.
If they had regard for our language and/or culture, it would be something.
Bur, from Texas, none of these things are true.
This is not immigration, not here. It is invasion.
If the commerce department had any regard for our country, they would not be pushing to get the money off of these wealthy, shopping maniacs (oh, I’m sorry, poor immigrants, fleeing a country, Mexico, with a lower unemployment rate than ours), this would be less of an issue.
Can we bear three years and two months more of republicans doing nothing to help our country?
Today, the military priest said, ‘we elect politicians to hopefully abide by the constitution’
Sigh.
If that’s not wimpy as hell, I don’t know what is.
If you like what he did with healthcare, just wait until you see what he does with immigration
It’s the distraction of the week. What passes for “news” from Washington, D.C. is a merry-go-round.
Desolation Migration if they are so desolate in their countries why do they want to come here and change our lifestyle into what they are running from i/e their country !?!
I know...if the gop-e had any sense they’d be screaming from the top of the capitol that if you like your doctor you can keep him/her. period.
and if you believe that, you believe we’ll tackle border security and that they’re only 11 million “undocumented” lawbreakers in the country.
if you want to be a citizen, get your arse in line, go through the naturalization process and you will be welcomed with open arms.
leave your prior country’s flag behind because now, it’s the Stars and Stripes. Old Glory. The Red, White and Blue.
it’s as simple as that.
When he selectively enforces the law according to which laws he likes, which parts of the law he likes, and which people he likes, only fools would want to give him anything at all on immigration.
Prove you are capable of following the law first, Mr. Obama.
Your whole administration is a fraud-filled failure. Why should we trust you with immigration?
Let him. It will go nowhere, and he will finish the spectacle with approval ratings in the teens
“The Hill” LOL! of course!
I just had to see what media unit would be so silly as to write this garbage...
"Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Sunday said that immigration reform is going to happen.
Stupid Party ready to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Republican leaders just aren’t enough like Ronald Reagan for you? Sit home and be smugly happy in 2014, 2016, etc. Get used to hearing the media and Dims say, first, “you can’t criticize her, she’s the first female President,” then beginning 2024, “you can’t criticize him, he’s the first Hispanic President,” then in 2032 “you can’t criticize her, she’s the first female Hispanic President.”
Then, come 2039, maybe you’ll be able to have the next Ronald Reagan. In the meantime, “thanks for your help advancing the Conservative cause.”
