Booming NC home schools face little scrutiny

Yes, thank you. A bit late when I was getting this posted, and that point can't be said enough.

In North Carolina, like most states, those children can disappear from outside scrutiny.

No outside scrutiny? The horror.

Typical statist reporting. How is the "outside scrutiny" of government schools doing? What successes have they had?

An 11-year-old Union County boy found handcuffed to his front porch with a dead chicken tied to his neck. Wanda Sue Larson, who had custody of the boy and four adopted children living in the home, had filed last year to home-school the children. Larson has been charged with child abuse, and investigators say they found signs the boy was frequently handcuffed inside.

Whoops. It appears this woman was under the "outside scrutiny" of the state. How did that go?

The real attack isn’t against “home schooling”, but against parents in general. It’s hard to home school as a single parent. This is just an extension of the attack against parenting and parental control of children. The entire purpose of the government school system is to separate children from their parent’s values and beliefs. The goal is to instill in children a love of the state and its values and beliefs.

The state using the state to expand the state. That’s the Standard Operating Procedure always, no? The capon media just go along to get along.

Well?...Gee!...If school-aged kids are in so much danger, then what about those poor little preschoolers? Aren't they in danger, too?

I have an idea! Let's have government school teachers in every maternity delivery room. The teachers can snip the umbilical cord and then whisk the newborn off to newborn schools. Hey! It's for the chiiiiildren!

Gatto documents this well in his writings. The **earliest** lobbyists for government run and compelled schooling ( in the early and mid 1800s) **plainly** stated that this was, indeed, their intention. Separate the children from their parents!

NC homeschool dad here. Nothing succeeds like success. And for the record, I do not need to be “supervised” by some government bureaucrat. Thank God for the North Carolina Department of Non-Public Education, who leaves homeschoolers the hell alone and lets us do our jobs.
