Hudak Agrees To Resign If Recall Goes Forward, Allegedly Demands Johnston Get Blacklisted In Return
ColoradoPeakPolitics ^ | November 22, 2013

Posted on 11/22/2013 4:43:17 PM PST by Red Steel

Democratic State Senator Evie Hudak is facing a second round of recall after voting for Mayor Bloomberg’s gun control bills, but sources tell us she has agreed to resign if the organizers seeking her recall get enough signatures.

The scuttlebutt around the Capitol is that Hudak has agreed to resign her seat if enough signatures get verified to force a recall election, but we’ve been told a secret agreement allegedly made with Senate President Morgan Carroll comes with a few strings attached.

If Hudak lost her recall election, it would hand power of the State Senate to Republicans. To stop that from happening, Hudak would resign in the case of a recall election, allowing Democrats to appoint a successor.

But Hudak, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the teachers union, wants a say in her successor on the Senate Education Committee we hear. In exchange for her resigning, Senate President Morgan Carroll has allegedly promised to appoint another union goon to head the committee over Senator Michael Johnston (D-Denver), a leading education reform supporter. Our sources say Hudak would prefer Senator Andy Kerr.

The second stipulation of the resignation agreement, sources say, is that Senate Democrats put out a full court press to stop the recall from taking place. That has clearly been taking place, with liberal organizations and even Senate President Morgan Carroll herself showing up at recall petition signature gathering locations to harass the recall organizers.

At this point, this secret resignation agreement is simply scuttlebutt. It’s nothing more than rumor, but an enterprising political reporter may want to ask Hudak and Carroll on the record about it.

I am not in the right district to vote in this:( There have been smears against the petion workers warning people that they could be crimminals and sex offenders. Hudak is toast. There won’t be any deal on successor.

I’m in the district and signed already. They were going door to door in my neighborhood last weekend.

But, if she resigns, the Dem’s do get to select her replacement.

It’s still a victory, throwing out the gun grabbers.

And, it’s not that far to the 2014 elections.

Folks who are out of the area but are financially in a position to donate can do that. Here’s the site:

http://www.recallhudak.com/

If she’s successfully recalled (or enough signatures are gathered to force a recall election) and the Democrats pull this resignation/appointment trick, at least they will have revealed who they are by taking the selection of the replacement out of the hands of the voters. That would resonate in the 2014 elections.

RATZ really are just plain evil.

Very, very clever, like a cornered RAT, but just plain evil nonetheless.

RATZ and RATs are kindred spirits.

One thing we have to say about Democrats-—They know every dirty trick in the book and they are not afraid to use them.

I know I am repeating myself but ever since I read where Hudak was scolding a rape survivor for using a gun to stop the rape,,,,I prayed this woman’s political career would end. Sometimes justice is slow. She is a creature!

I don’t know the politics of the area, but any chance the Republicans could make overtures to the educational reformer to switch sides?

Soooo—
Can the ‘replacement’ who is appointed—not elected—also be recalled if they are not wanted?

The republicans have retained control, and union rejection in one district and picked up one more. The test scores will back up this change in CO.

The DemRats do not get to select a successor unless the repubs agree. With the last two recalls I don’t see this happening. Hudack is toast!

That is an interesting strategy. Tell the people who voted for you that they didn’t really vote for YOU, they voted for a party, and if the party thinks they will lose your seat, you are supposed to quit so they can replace you.

I’d be interested though in how the recall law is written. It could be that once a recall election has the signatures, it happens whether the person resigns or not.

It would be odd if the day before a recall election, when polls show the other party will win easily, you could just resign and the election would be cancelled.

"Colorado recall melodrama unfolding"

Thank you. I'm pleasantly surprised that the 2nd Amendment issue is making that much noise in Hudak's left-leaning neighborhood. Hopefully, we'll also be more pleasantly surprised to find that the recall effort there is successful. Sorry about the belated response. It's been a busy few days without much Internet time.
