I’m convinced that what you said is accurate. We need swift public hangings for a couple of generations to battle the socio-paths.

In our little Southern town, they used to hang the criminals on the weekends in the afternoon. The dates were advertised so the people used to bring a lunch, sit on the hill next to the courthouse, and watch the hangings. They were great object lessons on "the wages of sin", so the parents always brought the kids to watch.
I think it would be a great tradition to resurrect.
