A shaken police officer was put on administrative duty pending the outcome of the shooting investigation of a sidewalk hotdog vendor. The vendor, a long time fixture, had been providing fast food for police officers for many years.

Police union reps said the officer fired 78 times hitting the proffered hot dog twice. Police are not sure of the total number of pedestrians injured in the shoot out.

"I was afraid for my life. Suddenly the hot dog lunged towards me, going straight for my face. All I could hear was. 'Get your red hot'."
