Seattles newly elected Socialist councilwoman accused aerospace and defense giant Boeing on Monday of economic terrorism and told Boeing machinists they should consider taking over the factories. The Workers Should Take Over the Factory! Seattle Discovers Electing a Socialist Has Consequences
The workers should take over the factories, and shut down Boeings profit-making machine, Kshama Sawant told a group of activists in the citys Westlake Park.
Sawants comments were made at a rally organized by machinists after they rejected a deal that would reduce pensions for union members in return for guaranteed jobs in Everett, Wash., building 777X Boeing airliners for eight years.
Now Boeing is considering taking those jobs elsewhere.

Neither...it’s Fascist.
Oh my, yes. The farm animals cannot run the farm... in that sense. And once they try they collapse of their own “some more equal than others” heirarchy. Without Boeing suppliers (and finance to do so) the workers in this case would build.. nothing but relocation of the organization (which is already highly dispersed worldwide.. even in China).
Given the weather and political environments, the Winners seem to be Texas, Kansas and the SE States.
Right out of Dr. Zhivago— the city house of the main family is displaced and replaced with 15 families in a destroyed home. And Yuri Zhivago’s 1/2 brother (Alec Guiness) visits him there (a NKVD agent in wet leather coat and cossack fur hat with a red star).
The buses are free in the Peoples' Republic of Bozeman, Mont.
Boeing has already started to address the increasingly hostile State and City they have called home. They moved their corp. offices to Chicago (good to move, bad choice) and they continue to grow their foot print in other states. At some point, you would thing that even Seattle would get the hint.
Maybe not. If I’m a big-wig at BA, I get more aggressive about pushing work else-where.
Like the Star Trek episode with the slave/sacrificers for “Vol” who calls them and... supplies all needs.
Reminds me of when I worked for the Winchester - Western Division of Olin Corp. in Connecticut back in the last 1960s. The IAM would not accept the company offered contract and went on strike. It lasted a couple of months and the company finally caved. The workers won!!! Well, that is until Olin Corp. decided it didn’t want to subsidize a money losing division. They sold the business to a third party, and most of those IAM workers lost their jobs. That was about 45 years ago, and the IAM is now even worse.
The idiot voters in coastal Washington State almost make us California voters look downright conservative
“Yeah, that always works out so well. These morons never learn.”
It’s been tried, and it has FAILED MISERABLY every time.
Someone should tell him about South Bend Tool and Die, famously taken over by the Union in the 80’s, and left employees broke and liable.
Or the Continental Steel fiasco.
She achieved what she wanted, her five minutes of fame. She’s a member of a city council that no one outside Seattle ever heard of and, except for this story, no one ever would have heard of her. Mission accomplished...

I thought socialists only wanted the government to take over and run the factories?
Only in America could such a radical seditionist make such a statement and live.
This isn’t new. Run a search on “Flint Sit-Down Strike” from 1937.
Silly.
Politicians make statements like this in the UK and Canada all the time. For all I know, they make statements like that in Australia too.
It's basically the English-speaking world that has a death wish.
