Obama Opposed Eliminating Filibuster In 2005

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that President Obama has come out in support of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) plan to reform the filibuster.

This goes counter to Obama's view of this parliamentary procedure when he was a part of the Senate minority in 2005.

As a little background, the Republicans in the Senate at the time were angered by Democrat filibusters that were preventing President Bush's judicial appointments from getting an up or down vote.

The GOP threatened what was called the "nuclear option" of circumventing the filibuster by using reconciliation to get these jurists to be voted on.

Sen. Barack Obama spoke in opposition to this on April 13, 2005:

Big stupid smelly deal. The bigger the lie, the better the result. Hypocrisy is like a elementary baseball game where the two sides don’t keep score.

Obama is the ultimate opportunist.

If he had wanted to,, he could have been the first black James Bond, yaknow.

His true calling was acting, not teaching constitutional law.. or destroying a nation for his own petulant reasons.. altho he certainly has the media fooled, which makes a big difference. never vetted. go figure.

It’s quite simple: when Democrats filibuster nominees they may do so for whatever reason they wish and any number of times they wish. When Republicans filibuster nominees they must do it only as many times as Democrats say is okay and only for certain narrow reasons.

“OK, here's the deal with my nuclear option thingy:

Because my buddy Barack's transformation of America isn't moving at the rate Mr. Soros, David Axlerod, Valerie Jarrett and his other handlers anticipated, we simply MUST pack the agencies and courts with more dedicated Marxists and libturds before BO's term is up. And although BO's agency heads will be removed should, allah forbid it, the pubbies take the WH in 2016, they will have had 3 years to bring in so many fellow libturds that a new administration will not be able to clean them all out.

But the courts – especially here in DC – are where the REAL action is! Dontcha just love that LIFETIME TENURE thing? We sure as hell do!

Oh...the finger?

Just my way of telling you Tea Party people that if you don't like it...suck on this!!

ROFLMAO!!!”

Most DISrespectfully, Harry “The Grinning Weasel” Reid

If you like your government, you can keep it.

We’re just going to make it easier to manipulate.

Now go pay your taxes, your government is broke. :)

You got that right.

Can’t wait to see how MSNBC covers this. In 2005, they were saying it would be the end of the world if the GOP had done this then. But since liberals are doinf this in support of liberal causes, I have a feeling that the MSNBC crowd will be okay with this. And, won’t see any inconsistency in their position.

Anything which advances liberalism is okay with liberals. they don’t see the hypocrisy of opposing the same move by their political opponents.
