Side note...
It always pissed me off to no end when the media “chose” the colors to represent democrats and republicans a few cycles back. I remembered watching that (I think it was the 2000 or 2004, maybe earlier though) and thinking it was utter bulls***.
You KNEW they chose red for the republicans because of it’s negative connotations and association with communism, when in abject reality it would have been the logical choice to run opposite on the colors.

Thank you! I have been grumping about this ever since it happened. Most of my (conservative) friends tell me I am crazy for even caring. I’m telling you, these people are evil and they mean business. Meanwhile conservatives sit by naively believing the best about the leftist media and government. Unbelievable!

Back around Clintoon days is when the shift happened. . .Blue used to be Republican and Red democrat.
Then it switched. . .without a word and apparently no one noticed in the media or chose not to comment.
FYI-
As I recall, the media started using the color scheme in the 1980 election, and guess what? The R’s were blue and the Reds were Dem ... oops, the Dems were Red. I’m going mostly off of memory here, but I kind of recall seeing a back issue of Time about 3 years ago (the issue was from 1980) so I’m fairly certain about this.
It changed, I think, in about ‘84. They probably did a focus group and they came up with the present color scheme.
