Have you ever been to Amidon, seriously? As I recall, the fake patrol car was erected as a tribute to one of the former residents who really did patrol the town once upon a time.

They used to sell t-shirts "Smallest county seat in America." But I think someplace in Nebraska just passed them up.

Amidon is conveniently located at the junction of US 85 and US 212 and near the highest mountain in North Dakota (3500 feet or so as I recall) and an underground burning coal mine.

I have, many times. Don't stop now as they had quit selling beer. Been to the burning coal mine as well which is pretty cool.

The fake patrol car is to get people to pay attention to the reduction to 45 then 25 as you roll through 'town'.
