How very sad, I’ve known Katherine for several years and met Anders on occasion. He hated Washington and everything about it, and generally avoided coming here. Indeed he was a gentle and devoted man. I remember Katherine once saying (publicly, so this is not a breaking of confidence) that as a young woman she was a “jerk magnet” but all that was behind her when she met Anders.
I had hoped to visit her in Sarasota next weekend, but I will no longer make the intrusion.
No, I think it is even more important to go there next week, to remember us to her. To remind her that many across the country DO remember her courage.
