It is narrow winding mountain road.

You make it sound like a goat track. The speed limit was 55. That’s a pretty good road.

I live in Taos and have driven the road.

My daughter is a Deputy Medical Investigator.

That stretch of road, drunks kill themselves monthly. Taos News link

Most flatlanders do not understand high mountain driving.

The road has yellow caution signs identifying switchbacks
on that road with caution signs for 30mph.

At this time of year there is snow on the ground.

I don't live near there but I drove through it just a couple weeks ago and it is a good road. "Winding" to a lifelong Texan maybe, but my old stomping grounds is the Oregon coast range and the Rio Grande gorge is nothing.

When we went through (just a couple days before this event) there was a speed trap being run by the staters along one of the straight stretches a few miles south of Taos, and I reckon that's where they picked her up.
