Somewhere around 1975 I began to write off Rolling Stone as a “music” publication. It’s obvious that they became a political rag somewhere along the way and music became a second or third tier in their hierarchy. Their editorial board, aging music critics and Jan Weiner are the overlords of what is hip as they run for politically correct cover. That The Supremes, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Journey, Van Halen, REO Speedwagon, Jethro Tull, The Doobie Brothers, The Allmans, The Isley Brothers or The Four Tops are not even given honorable mention in the Top 100 speaks to the legitimacy of the list. I know, to each his own but Grandmaster Flash and the Sex Pistols ... really?
I could not agree more! ;-)
