Far from dead, legislation expanding background checks before gun sales still has a chance of passing this Congress, Democratic leaders in the House and Senate said Wednesday.
While the background check issue has been dormant on Capitol Hill since the Senate shot down such a proposal earlier in the year, Democrats argue that enough pressure on House GOP leaders would return the topic to prominence – and force a floor vote – before next year's mid-term elections.

"So we're going to pass this law," he added. "We are going to finish the job and pass background checks and then move on and do other things we have to do to get guns off the streets and stop gun violence."
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) echoed that message, pressing GOP leaders to take up the background check bill and arguing that a majority of House lawmakers would support it if they did. House passage, Pelosi continued, would then increase the odds of the bill clearing the Senate.

If these political hacks want to stop so-called “gun violence,” or at least put a major dent in it, all they need to do is lock up all the violent black, Mexican, etc. gang members in the big cities.
We all know the real goal is to dis-arm white conservatives.

Newtown was caused by an incredibly stupid woman that paid for her stupidity with her life. Its a shame others had to pay for her stupidity too.
As you say, no background check would have prevented it.
I saw a video yesterday of blacks in NJ playing a "game" they call Knockout. They target someone walking down the street (all were white that I saw) whether it's male or female and see if they can hit them hard enough to knock them out. All for what they call fun.

How about background checks on people running or elected to Congress and the White House?
That would leave the Democrats as a third party and No Bama, Jarrett, Axelrod anywhere near the White House.

Let me guess, if they get caught some sympathetic judge will give them a couple days in jail and release them. Not a year in prison like they should get.
