I know the facts, I was the chairman of the recall committee in my county. We were not getting nearly enough signatures. I could not ever get a count of signatures from those in charge, which indicated that we were coming up short. What little information I got from other areas indicated they were not doing much better than we were.

The word I got later was that there were not going to be enough signatures. Do you suppose maybe 9-11-01 provided a way to bow out gracefully?
