McCain to Cruz on shutdown: ‘You’re crazy’
msnbc.com ^ | November 14, 2013 | Aliyah Frumin

The divisions were on full display at the fifth annual Washington Ideas Forum on Thursday, especially between Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Ted Cruz of Texas, who spoke right after each other.

McCain said that while he “respected” the Tea Party Texan, he adamantly disagreed with Cruz spearheading a spending battle over defunding Obamacare, which resulted in a partial government shutdown last month. McCain said the reckless move forced a town in his district to rely on food flown in from food banks.

“I have to say, “Stop. You’re wrong, you’re crazy,” said McCain. “If I sound angry, it’s because I have met and talked to constituents of mine who are on minimum wage who had to resort to go to food banks… There was no chance of success and anybody that believe that there is, is very naïve about the Constitution of the United States.”

If a town needs food flown in from a food bank because of a Federal government shutdown, that town needs to do some thinking about their current situation. That’s patently absurd in a nation of free people.

McLame and the Beer Empress could’ve treated the whole town to steak at Ruth’s Chris.

Hey, everybody . . . the mayor of Akron blamed the Tea Party because an aerospace company is shutting its doors. He blamed the shutdown and the Tea Party in a real nasty press conference this afternoon. Talk about an absolute moron.

Or the Keatings

Being part of the Keating Five (which included John Glenn, and also non-Senator but famous endorsee Alan Greenspan) was one of many career low-lights for Juan.

National Review claimed that McLame’s attacks on Cruz during the filibuster would be ‘the end of his influence in the party’

I disagree. I think that moment is right now. For mcS5itstain to continue to attack Cruz for trying to prevent a total meltdown of the healthcare industry unfolding before our eyes, even those Republicans who had stuck by him for all this time will have to throw up on their shoes.

I encourage everyone to fire off a quick email to the Texas senator who tried to save America from Obamacare in one last-ditch attempt. He has been vindicated in every sense of the word.

Sen McCain might just have been Pres McCain if he had of attacked Obama the way he attacks other Republicans. I wish this guy would just resign and go to the old folks home.

Cruz is on the correct side of this, as we all know. He put on a last ditch effort to stop this madness, “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” style, and McCain and company decided that it was best to call him a “Wacko Bird”.

So, I guess we should follow McCain’s advise and all go back to our Hobbit Holes.

If I wasn’t watching this all for the last 6 years, I never would have beleived this was possible.

My thoughts too. And my other thought was why didn’t he tell us which town this was? I think he made it up.

“District?” Senators don’t have “districts” they have states! Is Senator McCain so senile he thinks he’s still in the House of Representatives? Anyone here know a good geriatric psychiatrist?
