Full title: Butterball has shortage of unfrozen, large turkeys, according to Big Y officials; other Butterball turkeys, brands available
I looked around the net for other articles and this is the only one so far about this apparent national problem. 50% of birds 16 lbs and over is a huge production miscalculation. Cutting every retailer 50% of their orders in this weight class with this brand will lead to shortages across the board. Buy early and often :)

Production mistake? Or was there a mass turkey escape that they don’t want to tell us about, hmm?

Don’t worry about it. There are plenty of big fat turkeys in DC.

How can they "miscalculate" by 50% on something they do every year, and for which they have many years of sales data?
Sounds more like they are tightening belts, and are unwilling to risk have any unfrozen turkeys in inventory post-Thanksgiving.

A mistake was made in the production of fresh Butterball brand turkeys This is what happens when you let liberals control the FDA.
1 gobbler + 1 hen = 1 fertilized egg.
I don't care what the turkey identifies as.

If a turkey is meant to be fresh for Thanksgiving, then it should not have been slaughtered yet. Something stinks about this story.

I spent a ton of years in the frozen food biz, and would bet that the percentage of toikeys sold “fresh” is really minimal.

If you like your butterballs, you will be able to keep your butterballs. Period.

Buy a fresh (unfrozen) early and often? Does not compute, does not compute.

Sounds like an excuse to raise the price. Maybe hold off on stocking the freezer with Christmas prices.
