BUMP
I praise them for standing up for their beliefs.
do you really think a Christian organization trying to keep kids from drugs is pro-head chopping?
I fail to see the problem. A Christian organization standing up for their beliefs is a problem, how?
“What about Churches of Christ? Dont they frown on this *behavior*, too?”
Thats a branch of Baptists ultimately with a different name.
That is true. I have lost a lot of respect for the Southern Baptist church due to this. It is even in the church covenant that they won't drink wine (alcohol). When I was a teenager our pastor then refused to preach against it and he even drank wine on occasion. I asked him about it once and he said that there was nothing in the Bible that said it was wrong but if you wanted to remain a Baptist preacher you didn't say so. I always wonder about what else they are fabricating. At the same time, they are closest to my personal beliefs, except for a few falsifications. At least I'm aware of most of them.
Of course, if one never drinks alcohol, one will never backslide into the behaviors it seems to cause when too freely imbibed...
And if you NEVER have sex you won't commit adultery.
And if you NEVER eat you won't be a glutton.
And if you NEVER criticize fellow Christians you won't be a hypocrite or self righteous.
Just sayin'...
These are some that will swallow a camel and then strangle on a gnat.
And fine wine it was.
And the Apostle Paul instructed Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach’s sake.
Tell that to the Lord when He returns and has a glass of wine...if HE has the time...

The point is that the Greek word for wine was used at the wedding in Cana and the admonition that a deacon should not be “given to too much wine”. It’s the same word.
So when people say “grape juice”, they are changing the Bible to suit their beliefs.
I find this is a key flaw in “KJV Bible-believing fundamentalist” churches. They all reject the Word of God when it doesn’t suit them.
Anything can be done to excess and abused. I'd say there's a few connected to that churches ministry who directly or indirectly sell alcohol, tobacco, Lottery Tickets, etc. Plus evidently this was a deal done for Walmart. You know and I know Walmarts nor any other food store in Tennessee sells wine except for a Liquor Store, resturant, or actual wineries licensed to do so. You can't buy wine at a food store in Tennessee.
The kids in that ministry will be adults soon. There is nothing wrong with wine. Kids simply need to be taught proper time, place, and responsibility. I grew up with an occasional glass of wine with supper and family had it at Christmas. By age 16 I knew how to make it myself.
As for getting drunk? Wine in general is a very poor choice. The sugar content with the juice makes for one very major head splitting and gut ripping hangover.
