IMHO it looked like Leno was trying to "knee-cap" senator Cruz...It felt that way to ME, too!...It seems obvious the left, (I don't think Leno came up with this on his own.),
was hoping to catch senator Cruz off guard/take him out, with this appearance on Leno's show.
Like someone else said, they were hoping for a "Charlie Gibson/Katie Couric"-style AMBUSH!Fortunately, they had THREE PROBLEMS with that plan:
- Senator Cruz was PREPARED for them, for the most part.- This show was recorded "live-to-tape," so they could not EDIT his answers.
- WE WERE THERE, to help influence the "crowd dynamics." :)
