I note you didn’t list that. Only African-Americans, Asia-Americans, Central Americans...whatever that all means...and some people of apparently European nationality. Legal Permanent Residents from the Ukraine?
Perhaps you could tell us how the unhyphenated citizenry felt about Mr. What’s-His-Real-Ethnicity.

This is census info, it breaks everybody down by national origin. This does not signify that all these people significantly self-identify as German-American, Welsh-American, Northern-Ireland-American or the like. It means that's what they put down on the form when asked about national origins.
As yo know, everybody here has national origins from someplace else. And most of the blacks have been there for longer than most of the whites, since the blacks got here before 1815, when the British stopped their role in the transatlantic slave trade, whereas most of the whites got here in the huge wave of immigration which arrived in NYC in the late 19th and early 20th century.
