Thanks for thread A.B. Tide continues to roll.
Looks like Fat Bastard Sunday. Oh well, lots of other things to bring up in the news other than why Christie refused to help Cuccinelli when asked, never a dull moment.
Morning AB, All .sang at 8:30 am mass.
Thank you AB for doing this thread, as always. Got all the Sunday talk shows on DVR and am watching.
Have greatly enjoyed Obama’s discomfort over his lying and his ridiculous “apology”.
We are not stupid out here in la-la land where we carry this country on our backs. We have kids and they lie all the time. Well maybe YOUR kids lie but mine don’t .heh.
The pundits want to talk about it forever, of course, it’s what they do. Those of us with lives that don’t involve talking for a living know he lied and we will deal with him like we do all liars, silly us with our absurd common sense.
We’ll just refuse to believe anything he says again. Not that we did believe him much before but I’m jus’ sayin’.
So my big news this week, as I am catapulted to a strange fame down here in the swamps, is my new career as .TADA..
.A STANDUP COMEDIAN!!!
Yes I have the whole “act” on tape and in due course I will put up the link that yon reader might enjoy.
Cause tween you and I folks, and I say with all due modesty .I was the best act of the night.
What was I?
A nun, of course.
Last night my church had its first annual Talent Show which I was co-pilot in putting on, gathering talent and star of that nun stunt. I was terrified all day yesterday as I’d NEVER did a comedy act before in my life.
The church actually bought me a nun costume!
And I told several really good Catholic jokes!
I watched the tape folks and dag, I was good. My timing was spot on .and let’s not forget I had to improvise. What I had to do was show up out of nowhere, dressed in my nun’s outfit, while the MC asked me who I was and what did I want. I had to walk through the audience carrying this yardstick and ad lib with the seated attendees. I chose my own granddaughter for one of these interactions.
I told my jokes on the stage and I just wanted it to be over with. The crowd was rolling in the aisles. We had another comedian there and I’m sorry folks, allegedly he was an opening act for Jonathan Winters but my act was waaaaaaaay better, taking my prejudice into account.
I am currently reading a book called “Rediscover Catholicism” by Matthew Kelly, which I love and which will, literally, change my life. My church gave every registered parishioner a free copy, even mailing it out to those who didn’t pick it up after mass. At my age I thought I’d read all the great books but this one is the greatest I’ve read in my life.
The title leaves one to believe it’s all about Catholicism, which it is, but it’s as much about Christianity as most anything. I see cherished truths in the words and feel renewed.
Anyway I ended my comedy act with one of my favorite quotes from the book, and to the surprise and applause of the attendees, almost 200 strong and we sold out and had to turn many away.
I’d told my Catholic jokes to a mostly Catholic audience, asked them to raise their hands if they were Catholic.
“Catholics aren’t afraid to laugh at themselves,” I said from the stage, fully dressed, mind you, as a nun. “Just remember, whatever you may feel about the Catholic church, EVERY DAY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH FEEDS SIX MILLION PEOPLE ACROSS THE PLANET”.
I use caps on purpose, as it my wont...as I raised my voice for emphasis.
“The Church never asks the poor if they are Catholic. The Church just asks if they are hungry”.
Man I had tears shining across the room, doggone right, be proud of your religion, the only religion started by Jesus Christ Himself! People were hugging me, telling me how much they loved me, that I am their hero .hey,. Yon readers .remember that these people have seen me in the newspaper, on the local TV, now the comedy act. I am not deserving of all this love but by golly God’s got a plan for me, I know He does, and I am but His lowly servant.
The book says that new saints and leaders will rise up and change the course of history-the book is very conservative by the way, it’s not politically numb is what I’m saying here. Somehow, someway, God’s got a plan for me and I’m just following His guidance.
If you want to see my act, which was only about 5 minutes long , tops, hold on and I’ll get the link. My daughter put it up on Facebook and not sure how to provide a link to it.
