Sarah Palin tells Iowa conservatives it's time 'to stiffen our backs'

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who rallied members of the Tea Party in their failed effort to defund Obamacare, lashed out on Saturday against members of the Republican Party who agreed to end the government shutdown.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee's comments during a speech in Des Moines come at a time of division within the party over the strategy conservative members of Congress adopted in forcing a 16-day shutdown of the federal government last month.

Palin told the Christian conservatives in attendance it was time to "stiffen our spines" for the 2014 elections.

"I want to encourage you to make your voice heard, to hold politicians accountable," Palin said.

The bulk of Palin's speech was focused on the nation's current political climate. She drew thunderous applause with her sharp attack on Republicans in Congress who voted in October to raise the nation's debt ceiling and reopen the government.

"They promised that they would do everything in their power to fight against socialized medicine, against Obamacare, but when it came time to stand and defund it, they waved the white flag of surrender and they threw under the bus the good guys who did stand up and fight for us," Palin said.

Yes! Micro! NOT Macro! My wish is for freepers and other associations to
focus like a laser on THE POSSIBLE! Namely, slay their incumbent in the district THEY LIVE IN! In other words, a sort of “man to man” defense.

It does me no good for example to rant about a rep from Montana BUT I can, if I get off my ass, do some real damage in my neighborhood against that smug punk Cornyn! Everybody pick one of the 535!, just one!, and do your best to nail him!

I figure if I can cost Cornyn 100 votes, I’ve done my job as one man!

Ping to Sarah's Awesome List!

Sarah is one of like 6 Adults in the room when it comes to these.

I don't want the government to be my Dad telling me I can't have this and I can't have that, but it also shouldn't be an enabler, like the cool parent that gives 14 year old's beer and condoms, most of the time the government should simply do nothing.

And Republicans need to learn how to say "No, we can't do that" though I doubt that as the GOP is the second party of government.

Why do you think the GOP hates Sarah or Ted Cruz so much?

Spot on!!

Sarah IS doing exactly what she needs to be doing and is so wonderful at doing....giving it to the Progs....in BOTH parties.

Sarah plays chess while LSM and others play checkers. She runs circles around the tactics of those who mean to destroy what made this nation great.

No one needs to tell Sarah what she *should do*... she's got this figured out.

Too bad this isn’t Senator Palin R-Alaska telling them this....

Concurring bump.

Its not too late for her to challenge Mark Begich who is up for reelection in 2014.

The only way to take back the Senate is on at a time. The EASY ones like this are a no brainer.

I learned a long time ago that it is better to be kingmaker than king. Sarah gets this. If runs she’s an army of one, if she helps others run then we have an army.

Palin has nailed the persons responsible for this Nation’s problems/troubles and what is needed for correction. She is becoming more and more as the spokesperson for what the Nation needs. The lady is no dummie and the turncoats against the Constitution in the Republican Party are in for some exposure.

Sarah will be great raising money for the cause, and that is the most critical thing at this point...a conservative/tea party war cyst large enough to make a difference, especially with House and Senate races we can win..

It's too soon for Sarah to announce. She should wait until after the 2014 Congressional elections.

Otherwise, she will become the main focus rather than the Tea Party Congressional candidates.

The last date to enter the primary is June 1 2014.

Begich won with a Clintonian plurality in the “year of Obama” 2008.

He should be easy pickings, although the new Dem gameplan of bankrolling a Libertarian to bleed off R votes will likely be used.

“I figure if I can cost Cornyn 100 votes, I’ve done my job as one man!”

I would be delighted to be that effective in a certain state senate race right now. The game in VA is still on. And it’s for a whole lot of the marbles.

I don’t consider Sarah a Republican. I consider here on the same level as Cruz. So, yes, she should have run for Senate. We could have used her during the recent falderall.

I agree 100%.

On both points.

Sarah is nominally a Republican, as is Cruz. But both are more concerned with changing politics in DC, than in adhering to political positions.

As such, either (both) could form a new party.

Frankly I wish they both would. Right now.

This is just my opinion though.

I’m ready however.
