November 7, 2013 (INDIANAPOLIS) -- Opponents of a push to amend Indiana's gay marriage ban into the state constitution say adjacent Illinois' approval of same-sex marriage could help their cause.
Indiana gay marriage amendment opponent Rick Sutton of Indiana Equality Action says the Illinois legislature's approval of the gay marriage bill is a "monumental" victory. He tells The Indianapolis Star that Illinois' move could boost gay-rights advocates fighting Indiana's proposed amendment.

There is one elephant in the room here - what black churches in Illinois and Indiana have to say about this and what happens if the activists in question attempt to force and bully them into having gay weddings in their churches. You have the majority of the counties which are conservative/Christian leaning, and Indianapolis (the major Democratic area) is majority African American in the city (they are traditional back ~Christian~ Democrats).
Marriage Amendment passes in Indiana especially when championed by the grass roots (most of the legislative majority) AND the Governor!
I wish Gary would become part of Illinois.
Gary and Chicago should join together and become Garychicagostan. And let the rest of Indiana and Illinois become their own states. It’s Chicago that asked for this predominantly. The redneck remainder of Illinois need their own state.
Good idea. Like Virginia; Northern VA is much different than Southern VA.
