Blacks go into combat service support MOS’s because those often result in marketable skills: mechanic, supply clerk, systems tech, welder, etc.

My combat arms skills did me little good following Vietnam; the smirking HR rep in many a 1970’s interview was often an obvious draft dodger.

Anyway, I later got back in & retired in 2011. Combat skills a plus even now. May need them soon, I thought retirement was supposed to be peaceful. /s

I retired as a manager in 2006, the Army taught me, as an NCO, to run a crew in a high stress situation.

Getting shot at is about as high stress as you can get.
