The Québec government moved forward Thursday with a proposed law that would ban public employees from wearing overt religious symbols, setting the stage for a showdown over the place of religion in the province.
Québec Premier Pauline Marois said the law aims to preserve the provinces fundamental values, including the equality of men and women and the separation of church and state. Her separatist Parti Québécois on Thursday introduced its Charter of Values in the provinces legislature.
The law would forbid government employees from wearing Muslim headscarves, Jewish kippas, Sikh turbans and larger-than-average crucifixes. It would also prohibit citizens from covering their faces while receiving public services, such as applying for drivers licenses, for the purpose of identification.

Actually sounds good.
To whom?
Why not just ban muslim headscarves?
Isn’t that what they’re aiming at by banning all the rest?
Who determines what is an average size crucifix?
Obviously not.
These guys are some radical form of socialist; since they advocate separatism from Canada, they might even be tinged with national socialism.
The Party, obviously.
“It would also prohibit citizens from covering their faces while receiving public services, such as applying for drivers licenses, for the purpose of identification. ”
You are aware whom that would impact?
You believe in punishing the good along with the bad? Only communists do. Thanks for your stance against religious freedom.
You notice this is for government employees on duty?
Or did you miss that part.
The face covering ban in drivers licenses would be for everyone.
You sure get steamed easy.
As long as this law is applied CONSISTENTLY across the board, PC or not.
If it’s not toward freedom, it’s toward enslavement. This one has chains rattling.
Even worse.
Isn't that what they're aiming at by banning all the rest?
Exactly right. I hope you will excuse my upcoming ramble because when the rest of Canada gets over just damning all Quebec..... I oppose the separatism of the Quebec politicians myself.
Now there was the Herouxville Declaration. about two years ago. It was to the effect that immigrants were welcome to Quebec. They were asked to give up any attempt at Sharia law. They were not to have forced marriages and forced genital mutilation. All polite hell broke loose and a special commission was set up. Bleating and preaching about multi-culture etc. Muslim women came bearing gifts to Herouxville. Oh the love!
Later three young muslim women and their step mother from Quebec were followed by irate male family members. Their car was rammed into the canal and they drowned- or murdered previously. Honour killings it was said.
I have gone on too long, but am glad to get the other side of the story across. Too few people will see the whole picture because of the smoke screen set up by the leftists who worship forms of vile autocracy.
The BIBS (Bureau of International Bling Standards)
What other side of the story? Persecuting the innocent along with the guilty is not right. The scope of this extends to educators and health workers, don’t forget.
What is a “larger than average crucifix?”
Any opposition to things muslim, brings an almost hysterical outcry against those who dare. The crocodile has to be fed of course.
I keyed up on the same thing. I suppose the average crucifix needs to be large enough to nail a man to.
“Actually sounds good.”
From a province with a cross in its provincial flag?
