The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and its members are gradually changing their views on gay rights, according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
On the precipice of passage for a bill that would ban workforce discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation, the Mormon Reid (D-Nev.) told a small group of reporters that as his social views have shifted to embrace bills like the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, so to have many of his fellow churchgoers.
When I attend church here in Washington, D.C., I bet more people agree with me than disagree with me, and so the church is changing, and thats good, Reid said, according to the Washington Blade.
Reids remarks to reporters were intensely personal, and he described growing up not doing enough as a child to defend children who were bullied.
As I was growing up, somebody who was queer was really easy to pick on, he said. I was not in that category, but I saw it happen, and I didnt do enough to speak out.
In the dozens of years since his childhood, the Senates Democratic leader said as hes grown on social issues, so have the American people. To Reid, that means that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), who opposes ENDA, will need to follow the Senates lead if the party wants to have any hope of being on the right side of the majority of Americans.
The House is going to have to capitulate, Reid said.
Romney says :’No comment!”
I wonder what the President of the LDS church will say to that. However, he might be right. I’ve heard that Salt Lake City is gayer than San Francisco these days.
The House is going to have to capitulate, Reid said.
Sounds like Hitler
They have weathervane prophets so would not be surprised to see LDS come out for ballyhooing the sad gaydom.
When homosexuality became so mainstream and acceptable, the gays didn't feel confined to be in San Francisco.
SO, they moved out of the area into the new ACCEPTING America...ALL OVER America.
The number of homosexuals hasn't changed: about 1-1% of the population and mostly male for some reason. San Francisco doesn't have the homosexual neighborhoods anymore, though there are still "gay bars," again mostly for men.
It's wonderful for the entire Bay Area, being back to normal, just the normal dysfunctional people found in any urban area.
Uh huh.
Sounds like thinly veiled code that they now have enough dirt on the church elders from cellphone intercepts, emails, etc that pressure can be brought to bear for a coerced LDS “policy shift”.
I had wondered where all the homosexuals had gone to. The City by the Bay and the Bay Area are BEREFT of the myriad of homosexuals. They left to go to ACCEPTING AMERICA. How sweet. THANK YOU, ACCEPTING AMERICA!
Salt Lake City? Nooooo, HARD to believe that the LDS would tolerate it.
Of course, with the Internet, I KNEW that Utah would change. No place and no groups can hide anymore. No secrets. Once the Mormons got a hold of the Internet and found out how bizarre Mormonism is...it was only a matter of time before Utah's Mormon community would begin to scatter and disintegrate.
Um...
You know it’s wrong when the world influences the church to change to what he world wants. Not that I am saying Mormons are actually in the same church I’m in.
Pretty clear example here.
The House doesn’t have to do jack, Dirty.
Let it die in the harsh reality of time.
There were never as many as homosexuals in SF as you think. There are way more in NYC.
It’s not mostly men anymore! Lots of high school and college girls are becoming Lesbians Until Graduation “LUGs” or “girlfriends with benefits.” Sexual contact between girls is promoted as worry-free - no risk of pregnancy, low risk of STDs. I was shocked by this change.
Time for me to bring back my old joke:
Mormons believe marriage is between a man and a woman,
and another woman, and another woman, and...
Am I the only one who longs for the days when a “hairy reed” was a problem only bearded woodwind players had to worry about?
How do they control there Stepferd wives?
Here most women seem to think men are unnecessary except for sperm and child support.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants... bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society. Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors. [but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.
No way Josephina
Sf is the gay bay after all!
My 2c. Do whatever you want to do
Behind closed doors.
And keep it to yourselves!
Geesh!
