Reagan is dead. So are the millions of white, married Reagan democrats who voted for him.
They have been replaced by millions of Mexican immigrants and a huge cohort of 18-25 year olds who weren’t really old enough to be world aware when the 9-11 attacks took place.
The reality is that the GOP has to retreat on the social issues and press on the libertarian issues and economic freedom with these young voters. I can live with married gays down the block. I can’t live with a government controlled economy that kills the work ethic and individual economic freedoms.
Shaddup and go play over at DU.
The first election I voted in was 1978. Despite being raised by Democrats, I registered as a Republican for that election. So, the first Presidential Election I voted in was 1980. I was 21 years old. Reagan won in a landslide. He had huge numbers in all voting blocks, including the young Democrats (18 to 30). Are you suggesting that all those Democrats who were 18 to 30 years of age that voted for Reagan, not once, but twice, are dead? The problem isn't with the electorate, my friend. The problem is that the electorate hasn't been honestly informed by the media, nor elected officials from both parties, since Reagan left office. People who vote in elections today are casting votes based upon information that is inaccurate, and out and out lies. The problem isn't that young people are not capable of understanding what is at stakes. The problem is that they are fed lies. And, NO ONE in the GOP is doing a good job of countering the lies.
Destroy society with massive illegal immigrants that don’t assimilate along with the left wing destruction of the nuclear family through “diversity” and using divide and conquer tactics and you won’t have any economic growth or freedom.
Reminds me of the stupid “I’m fiscally conservative but socially liberal” nonsense. People who say that can’t see how much of their social liberalism is destroying their fiscal situation through the ever expanding welfare state.
I am finding more and more people thinking this way, outside FR that is.
